Kolkata, January 10, 2026: The Bengal Rowing Club (BRC) hosted the 82nd ARAE\u2013FEARA Regatta, one of Eastern India\u2019s oldest and most prestigious inter-club rowing championships, from 6th to 10th January 2026 at its historic premises in Kolkata. Widely referred to as the \u201cHenley of the East,\u201d the five-day championship brought together elite rowing talent from across India and overseas, celebrating sporting excellence, tradition, and international camaraderie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The landmark 82nd edition saw participation from leading Indian rowing clubs alongside international teams from Thailand, Russia and Hong Kong, with athletes competing across multiple age groups. The regatta featured a compelling mix of on-water rowing races and indoor ergometer events, delivering high-intensity competition and drawing enthusiastic spectators throughout the championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renowned for its rich legacy and competitive rigor, the ARAE\u2013FEARA Regatta continues to be a cornerstone of the amateur and senior rowing circuit. This year\u2019s edition once again reaffirmed its stature as one of the most challenging and respected rowing events in the country, showcasing both seasoned rowers and emerging talent in a spirit of discipline and sportsmanship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on the championship, Mr. Ujjwal Dugar, Rowing Chairman, said, \u201cThe 82nd ARAE\u2013FEARA Regatta highlighted the growing stature of rowing in the region, with strong domestic participation and an encouraging international presence. Mr. Gautam Valechha, Regatta Secretary, added, \u201cThe diversity of competitors and the consistently high standard of racing across categories reaffirmed the regatta\u2019s reputation as a premier fixture. The smooth conduct of events over five days reflects the collective effort of athletes, officials, and organisers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Munish Jhajaria, President, The Bengal Rowing Club, further stated, \u201cIt was a privilege for the Club to host the 82nd ARAE\u2013FEARA Regatta.
